Uh-Oh, The FBI Just Got Facial Recognition Technology

The FBI just announced its latest surveillance tool: the Next Generation Identification System, or NGI. And facial recognition software is a major part of NGI – which is why the FBI plans to collect up to 52 million photos of people’s faces by 2015. So is this a big deal? Yes, say the ACLU and the Electronic Frontier Foundation, who are worried Americans might be kissing any chance of anonymity goodbye.
